How to Read a Truffle Product Label
How to read ingredients, QUID, flavouring and origin without adjudicating a product.
02How we read the evidence
Start with the ingredient list, then check whether truffle is emphasized in the name or image, QUID, flavouring wording and origin statement. This page interprets a label; it is not an inspector.
- 01Ingredient list — Read in descending order of weight at the time of use.
- 02QUID — Quantity indication may be required when an ingredient is named or emphasized.
- 03Flavouring wording — “Natural” has defined conditions and is not a synonym for a whole fresh truffle.
- 04Origin statement — Where given, a primary ingredient of another origin may trigger specific rules.
- note the ingredient name and its order in the list
- separate the origin statement from species identity
